Lisa: Hi, I'm Lisa Dawn Angerame, I'm one of the founding partners of Nava NYC, a collective of nine yoga and meditation teachers in New York City. Our website is www.navanyc.com. Today, I will be talking to you about meditation. Your meditation space should be special. It's an area where you come everyday to find calm and peace. So you want to find something to sit on. I like to sit on a block. Another way to set up your area is to have a cushion to sit on, or some blankets to sit on. Either way whatever you choose should be in your space when you get there. Your meditation space begins to fill up with the intention and results of your meditation practice. It has a calmness about it. A welcoming feeling so that every time you come back to your cushion or your blanket or you block, you feel this welcoming, kind of, come here, meditate in my area, in this space. The second most important thing to have is a timer. You can use your phone. Everybody has a phone that has a timer in it. You can have a special meditation clock which is a nice option. If you practice with a mala, you have your mala sitting on your altar. And then you can set candles up or you can have a special picture of someone who's important to you in your area and have that ready to go. So you've set your area up, you have your seat to sit on, your block, your cushion or your blanket. You have your timer. You have your mala, and you have your pictures. And that's how you set up a meditation space.
