The Daily Meme #173!

The main thing wrong with the n2 was the ninjamine.

Giving added weight to later voters based on stake helps even out the added weight given to earlier voters based on the curve.
The more weight you add to the post later the more that goes to the pool split by all curators.

Increasing the value of each subsequent vote and passing a portion of that increase to the previous voters giving a linear result to the last voter seems like a good incentive plan, to me.

Much better than this one that punishes all the newbs for not knowing to not vote on posts more than 24 hours old.

What I clearly don't have the math skills to devise is a moving target based on weight, number of votes, age of post at time of vote, and stake that moves the curation sweet spot around so bots and algorithms can't predict it ahead of time.

The desired result is that weight, place in line, and time between votes serves to move the curation sweet spot from always number one to some random point down the line over the 7 days while not giving first and last less than linear rewards.

By giving added weight based on stake large accounts would loose less by voting later, and could benefit based on where the sweet spot lands.

If the ninjamine hadn't blown out the numbers, I think the n2 would have done a yeoman's job of delivering 'good' content to the trending page.

However, with the whale sharks we had then crossing swords with the early adopter maximizers the rest of us were just chum in the water.

What we have now is not gamified enough for me.
Linear rewards are boring.
My vote doesn't increase in value on posts with higher values.
Punishing folks because they don't know that voting after 24 hours is penalized just doesn't sit right with me.

Clearly what we have is much better than what stinc forced upon us, but this can't be the best we can do, imo.

What they do is voluntary, but openly public.
Don't abuse their willingness to work for the collective for what little we give them, eh?
Without them, none of this exists.
