Steemit rewards August 2019

Today is the last day of August, so it is time again for a new post about the rewards I got from different Steemit services and initiatives.

Voting distribution

Based on upVoters you can get insight in the upvotes you get for a certain amount of time. Below you can see the voting distribution of all incoming votes in August (and July as a comparison). It can be seen that @actifit took a bigger share this month. This is thanks to me participating in the competitions on Discord and the upvotes you get from @actifit.rewards as a prize. Second this month is good old @steembasicincome and third is the @esteemapp, who both saw the share in the total rewards increase as well. The reason for most of the services increasing their share is because of the smaller share of @jerrybanfield (from 16.2% to 3%). Interesting newcomer this month is @steem.leo. With only one upvote, it reached fourth place (and 5.8%) instantly. It would be nice to get more of such attention ;)

Author rewards

The second important thing to take into account is the total amount of author rewards that I got during this month. Steemworld.org helps here, since you can see the rewards of the last 30 days on your account page there (see below). One disadvantage is that rewards are always paid out 7 days after you author a post. That means that the reward data from Steemworld are 7 days behind the upVoters data about upvotes. To keep the calculation easy, I assume that the amount of upvotes by the different services are comparable for both periods. Since I post 4 to 5 times a week nearly all weeks, that should be pretty close to the reality.

According to the Steemworld data, I got 45.45 STEEM (Power) and 0.02 SBD in author rewards last month. For the calculation I assume that the average price of STEEM was around 0.22 SBD this month. That makes a total reward value of 45.54 STEEM (compared to 53.14 in July).

Results

In the table below you can find the results of the calculation for this month, including a recap from the previous five months. I only take the services into account that are among the five biggest contributors/upvoters.

Actifit is still on top this month, and again with some more Steem than last month. I keep making use of the nice AFIT to Steem/upvote and the competitions on Discord.
SBI is down a bit in Steem rewards. It seems the sustainability coverage of SBI has gone down, which makes the upvotes smaller.
Esteemapp has gone down a little, but still offers a nice contribution to the total.
Steem-UA is in fourth place and has decreased a lot compared to last month. Time to get that UA-score up again...
Upvoteshares is down a little in Steem. I do plan to buy some new shares in the coming round.

In the graph below, the Steem rewards per service over time are shown. You can see that the decrease of rewards in August was hardly because of these five services together, but because of others.

Conclusion and further thoughts

Based on the numbers, most of the services are still working well for me. Actifit is really the big one, especially because of the conversion option and the new competitions. I'd say this is the best service there is for me, also because it keeps me fit. SBI brings in a steady income, but is struggeling a bit. The Esteem app works very well and gives nice upvotes that are worth a lot more than what you give them, so it is a win-win. Steem-UA is still a great service when you calculate the Return on Investment, but I do need to increase my engagement to reach new highs.
All other services (including @dustsweeper and @minnowbuilder, which are not in the list) still provide a, slow but steady, return, so I won't be changing any of those.

Next month will be the first (full) month with the new reward distribution. I'm curious (and scared) to see what that does to my overall return on posting. It would also be interesting to see whether increased curation rewards can compensate the loss a bit. I'll keep you updated!

What do you think about the numbers? And do you have any recommendations for me? Let me know in the comments below!
