I'm coming to the conclusion that one can pour on pretty much anything.
I've seen people pour on tables, counter tops, fan blades, pots.... and yeh even tiles!
I've always wanted to give a hexagon canvas a go. I saw some at Spotlight a few weeks ago but noticed they weren't perfect so when I saw hex tiles at Bunnings over the weekend I just had to give it a go.
For those wondering, I got these ones. The size, price and texture was perfect. About $12 for 9 hex tiles with a rough surface ~ hoping the texture will help hold the paint.
Here's the progress shots.
I combined my usual pva/floetrol/water mix with another mix using floetrol/water based varnish/water and I think that's where the intricate cells come from.
While I was pouring on tiles I figured I'd give a normal square tile a go 👇
Here they both are all dry the next day.
Incidentally this popped up on my Facebook feed on Saturday.
I'm kinda seeing a pattern here.. 😆
What can I say? I love pink, purple and orange together!
Overall I love how the tiles came out, the next hurdle is figuring out how to finish the back. 🤷🏻♀️
Any ideas?
