Today is the first day of the week of "la rentrée" here in France. La Rentrée is not just the kids going back to school, it is everyone going back to work. Summer is over for most French people. Programmes on the radio and TV go back to normal (the beginning of a new season). Everyone looks forward to the year ahead.
It feels like New Year - without the hangover. In fact, it feels more like New Year than New Year does...
For those of us who have worked through summer it feels a bit like the last day at school (euphoria, tinged with a touch of sadness).
