MIT Researchers Find That Vaccine Immunity is Weak Against Many Variants

In a paper titled, Multiple SARS-CoV-2 variants escape neutralization by vaccine-induced humoral immunity, researchers from MIT found that many variants were not neutralized by the spike-specific protein immunity derived from the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in 99 trial patients.

The main problem with this limited protection is that escape variants can become more virulent in the process after escaping the s-specific immunity.

The authors of the paper also gave a nod to the fact that natural immunity plays a role and that natural immunity had an increased neutralization of the variant over the wild type of the virus.

It's an important reminder that natural immunity is real and more robust and that vaccine-induced immunity, when spike-specific and leaky, can create more dangerous conditions in the long-term.
