Cranberry Juice Drink - Lori's Cookbook

This is my entry for this week's @foodfightfriday

A few weeks ago, I made cranberry-berry sauce. At the same time, I also made cranberry juice. This one is amazingly simple and can be used with other fruits as well.

Cranberry Juice Drink

I tried this first last year and was really pleased with the way it turned out, so I did it again this year.

This is so simple, anyone can do it!

Fill your quart jars about halfway with your fruit.
Pour over about 1/4 cup sugar.
(Add more if you prefer it sweeter... Go ahead and try honey or another sweetener... experiment!)

Fill the jars to their shoulders with hot water (boiling is fine.)
Place in the waterbath canner for 10 minutes (after the water returns to the boil.)

Preparing to drink...

Strain a quart of cranberry juice drink into a jug.
(Reserve the cranberries for another use - like the Cranana-Chumpkin Bread I shared last time.)
Add water to taste (50/50 is about right for me.)
Enjoy with your holiday meal.

Oh, I was just going to mention these lovely, vintage jam jar juice glasses.
I sometimes find these in the thrift stores for around $0.30-0.50 each. They are worth around $5 each on ebay right now (take a look...) Although the one on the left is from the anniversary run in 1983, the one on the right is older, though I'm not aware just how long these were produced by Anchor Hocking.

I love these glasses because they are sturdy, cheap and pretty - and they hold just the right amount for a small drink.

Two of my kitchen witches. One hung in my grandmother's kitchen as long as I can remember, so I have mine - adding a certain magickal spice to my cooking, presumably...
My grandmother's now lives in my mother's kitchen.
