Spectrum Economics is holding its fourteenth solve the puzzle contest. This post contains 4 puzzles. The first person to solve all the puzzles wins 8 SBD (3 SBD carried over from the previous contest). If we do not get a winner, the prize money of this contest will be added to the available winnings of the next puzzle contest.
How to Enter
To enter requires 1 upvote. Each entrant into the contest is only allowed 1 attempt. The attempt needs to be done in the comments section of the post.

Changes made to the contest
I made a change to the puzzle contest last week. Question 1 now differs for each participant. The answer to Question 1 will be based on the username of the participant. The participants will be expected to convert their own name into a number based on the logic presented in the question. Puzzle Contest #13 didn’t have sufficient information to give entrants a reasonable chance to solve it. Therefore, I have added more information to make it more reasonable to solve. Below is a simplified version of the type of questions I will be asking.
For example @jimmyy = 6, @mike8 = 6, and @e-l.f6 = 5, therefore @spectrumecons = 13. As, numbers = 2, letters = 1, and all other symbols = 0.
The logic will change each week but the information provided will be sufficient to determine the number for each participant.
Other information
The closing date and time for the contest is 6PM USA Eastern Time 02/03/2018. Responses after this time will not be accepted. The answers will be provided in the comments section after the contest closes. The explanations for the answers will be provided in a separate post a few days after the contest closes.
The winner of the contest will be announced in the comments section. The 8 SBD will be paid to the winner as soon as I receive the payout from the post. I normally upvote all attempts but this week I’m going to try something different. I will give steem basic income (@steembasicincome) shares randomly to those that can answer Question 1 correctly. Altogether I will be giving out 5 basic income shares. These shares will help you to build your own content and receive upvotes from @steembasicincome. This also helps me as I have less time to jump in and upvote all comments with my work schedule coming up. Good luck everybody.

Question 3: Find the lowest value from start to finish (only move using the connectors between squares, i.e. you cannot move diagonally. You are only allowed to pass through each square once, e.g. you cannot go backwards and forwards between squares with negative values to obtain a lower score)
