Jumoke and her parents are relocating to Ibadan, she was pretty nervous. She felt pangs of emotion as they drove out of their old house in Ilorin, but she stifled the sobbing, after all, she was going to be a big sister soon. She needed to get a grip on being strong for the baby currently forming in mommy’s belly.

They made it to their house. Jumoke got the bags and headed upstairs to her new room. After she unpacked, she went outside the gate to get a feel of the new environment. Then some girls walked by about her age.

“This house is haunted” she heard one of them say.

“What makes you think that?” Jumoke asks.

“A girl named Sophia was horrifically hacked to death by a homicidal lunatic inside it last year” one said.

“Nobody ever buys the house” the other continued.

“Just last week my sister was passing through here and she saw her playing her flute at night”.

“That wasn’t the first encounter”.

Jumoke says goodnight to mommy and heads to bed.

She hears the eerie notes.

She sees the flute. SOPHIA’S FLUTE.

She can’t see anyone playing it, but the sounds are sharp...
