It is not new that women of today suffer so many things in the society that seems to favour one gender over the other. In many countries, especially in Africa, women are religated to the house. They are seen are fragile and as such can only do house chores.
This is majorly responsible for why we have many sit at home moms (house wives as they are called in Nigeria) who do nothing rather than to procreate and take care of the house.
These women hardly have have financial freedom as they depend mostly on their husband even to buy matches.
These kind of women become subject of abuse in the hands of men who feed them. Men thinking and feel because they feed the woman and housed her, they have every right to treat her the way they like.
So these women are subjected to constant abuse in the marriage. The husband sleep with the woman at will by raping her. If the woman rejects his advances she will be battered. If she says anything that provokes the man, she will be beaten.
So the woman lives in fear in her matrimonal home. She has no say, she can't express herself not even her emotions matetter to the man. She is in the shadow of her youth with many dreams dead.
Sometimes i wonder if these men that battered their wive have conscience? How many times have these men gotten provoked and smashed their computer on the ground for hanging? How many times have they threw their phones on the floor angrily because it was hanging? How many of them can tell a female soldier they cannot get up when she ask them to vacate from seat in a commercial bus (in Nigeria)?
The pain a woman feels is more than what any man can imagine. Is it from child labour, cooking, taking care of the family, doing house chores? How can a man add to these things by battering a woman?
Domestic violence is one thing that all human must stand against. We must drive away this menace from our community. Every nation must stand for oneness and tell men that their wives are equal with them by virtue of be a human.
