Introduction to this weeks page

One of the things I really like when telling stories is to give life to the characters I invent. As soon as I have introduced a character I start thinking about who he or she is... (in this case both). The background, the temperament, the way they go about their daily life. I didn't plan much when I started creating Phill from GCHQ. The supporting characters was invented on a whim and they didn't necessarily had to have a role to play in the big scheme... mainly because there wasn't one.

The three pagan choirboys, Morty Mogg, Vincent Cavanaugh and Loretta was created especially nonchalant. I didn't think of it as more than a one page cameo... as both Morty and Vincent are close portraits of my two brothers... and then there was Loretta. Because of all the many political discussions on the subject of transsexualism, queer and the like, I had the idea that a transsexual former hooligan with a large beard and a sort of Shakespearian ballet dress would be funny. The transsexuals I have meet and known long time before it became fashionable and a political battlefield are a diverse bunch of people with only one thing in common, and Loretta is not in any way the weirdest.

Over time the personality of the character has consolidated more and more. The most devoted and the most servile of Gwendolyn's little flock with visions that are taken seriously by the others.

But now on page 73 we will finally learn what Loretta really is - and it has nothing to do with Celtic Gods... It has to do with Norse Gods.
