Thank you for the feedback and comments you've given to the Steem Report we've published! To be honest we're quite taken aback by how many Steemians who have expressed how the report is useful and easy to digest by them.
We're glad to know so many of you enjoyed the 11-page report. As a bonus, we're following up with a post that is sure to satiate your appetite for more raw data. It is our hope that you find the data helpful, or at least helped paint a better picture of the Steem Blockchain and community for you.
While creating this report, we've relied on @Steemsql to index the blockchain and pull on-chain data and metadata.
In this post, we will be publishing some key insights from our database exercise.
How many new accounts were registered in 2018?
It's interesting to see the rate of account signups tapers downward as the year progresses, correlated to the movement of Steem price.
However, it should be noted that price alone is not the sole driving factor for account signups. From our experience and inquiries from our users, prospective users face difficulty in signing up for a Steem account. Mostly due to the fact that it is relatively difficult for them to find the proper avenue to sign up for an account.
How many posts were made in 2018?
We've rounded up the number of posts made each month on the Steem blockchain. It's amazing to see that a single blockchain has handled 1 million posts seamlessly (not to mention that posting is only a small part of the overall blockchain transaction). Again, the number of posts appear to correlate with the price of Steem.
How many unique active users* in 2018?
To get a rough estimate of the monthly Steem activity We tally the numbers of accounts that posted either individual posts or comments during the month. Once again, the trend shows high correlation with Steem price.
*This list is for accounts that have only posted posts or comments (excluding Custom JSON, transactions etc..) on Steem Interface apps.
Who's got the most payout in 2018?
Below are the top 30 posts with the most payouts in 2018 throughout the steem blockchain.
*Bear in mind that the "payout" is in STU (Steem Token Unit) as according to SteemSQL, which may differ from Steemit.com or any interface due to price change or different calculation by the interface.

Who made the most post on Steem?
One of our earlier iteration of the report seeks to feature the most active Steemian by way of posts made. However, we soon discover that a high majority of the accounts with high post numbers are bots for specific purposes. We include here the raw data for everyone's viewing.
This is not to say that there are no human Steemians within the list. We must commend on the dedication and efforts of such Steemians to post so frequently and consistently on the platform.

Who made the most comments?
Similar to posting individual posts, we also seek to find the top achievers for comments. This also led us to discover that a number of accounts were bots created for the sole purpose of mass commenting on specific messages. We are by no means passing judgement on any such activities, we are merely acknowledging such accounts exist.
However, this is not to discount the Steemians who are impressively active in commenting on the platform, the level of activity and dedication these fellow Steemians have to Steem is astounding indeed.
