Voice | Recommended Thriller Series

If you're looking for a good thriller series, then I highly recommend the Korean series 'Voice', which follows a special group of emergency call center operators (911/112/999). It's available on Netflix along with remakes from Thailand and Japan but the original is still the best in my opinion.

Along with their day to day cases, there is also an overarching case involving the main leads and their loved ones along with police and corporate corruption. This is the focus towards the end of the series and it is definitely the more exciting bit.

I had been skeptical about how exciting watching a bunch of call-center operators was going to be but the mix of the call-center as well as on-the-scene detective work ends up becoming doubly exciting as they're able to build the suspense by switching scenes.

The series does raise interesting questions about privacy and how the team's able to get leads from accessing CCTV footage. Also, the hacking scenes are your stereotypical movie type ones that makes it seem so easy, but these are just minor gripes.

It is also one of the rare Korean series that has a sequel. Season 2 is also available on Netflix and it is even more exciting with an even better villain. You'd need to watch season 1 in order to get a feel for some of the characters and plots although it is pretty good as a standalone too.
