One of the hot documentaries on Netflix other than Seaspiracy, is Operation Varsity Blues, a look At the central figure and events that transpired in the college admissions scandal that happened a few years ago.

A simple summary of what happened was that a private college admissions counselor provided rich and famous people a service where he guaranteed their children emission to the university of their choice.

He did this by gaming the college athlete scheme. Basically, he had insider coaches who were desperate for funds for their team or who were just greedy in some cases, admit these wealthy students as an 'athlete', in exchange for money.

But the movie does highlight that what he did was really to provide a side-door. There exists a backdoor already for the truly wealthy, who are able to donate enough for a building, to get their children in.

So let's face it. College admission had never been a fair game. It never has and in my opinion never will be.

The movie did try to invoke some sympathy for some of the rich kids, portraying them as unwilling participants but that rings hollow to me. Especially in light of some of he comments of the kids who were caught.

Overall, the documentary provides more details into an already famous case but there isn't much excitement or really new things that the documentary beings to light. My recommendation is to only watch this if you want a quick recap of the college admissions scandal.
