Arachnophobia on Youtube

I decided to pen a second CineTV Review . I don't subscribe to any streaming services but occasionally watch the free (with commercial) movies on Youtube. Youtube added this movie at the beginning of the month.

Filmed in 1990, Arachnophobia is a fun movie to watch during the pandemic. In the movie a group of scientist bring home a species of spider that quickly becomes the apex predator in their communities.

The movie is relevant because it explores the origins and exponential growth of biological entities. The pandemic is such an entity.

We do not know the origins of the Coronavirus. The official story is that the virus came from hunters who entered a bat cave in China. This is why we should put more restrictions on hunting.

I don't buy that story. There are more educational and scientific explorations going on these days than hunting expeditions. I think it likely that the virus came from a scientific exploration.

In Arachnophobia, Jeff Daniels plays the role of a hapless photographer who tagged along on the scientific exploration. A spider got in his camera gear.

Maybe the COVID19 pandemic started when a photographer got off trail while trying to capture the perfect picture for a SteemIt Post!

It is difficult to trace the exact origins of pathogens in the real world. Science fiction is a fantastic medium because SciFi movies allow creators to explore the origins of biological agents. Arachnophobia stands out as one of the best films in this genres as it involves icky spiders.

The image for this post is the cover art for the DVD. While I do not have a copyright, it is customer to use the cover image of books and DVDs in reviews.
