Intro: A favorite show of my girlfriend and I has been La Casa De Papel, it’s a Spanish drama/thriller TV series, also known as Money Heist on English-speaking Netflix outlets.

Plot: This is a show that follows a group of bank robbers through their attempt to rob the Royal Mint of Spain, a building that is meant to be totally impenetrable and secure. The mastermind behind the robbery is known as the professor and he enlists a group of criminals to help pull off the largest heist in world history. The robbers maintain their anonymity with their peers by using code names of cities from around the world. Tokyo, Rio, Nairobi, Berlin, Helsinki, Moscow and a few more city named robbers trigger the security doors inside the royal mint and keep a group of hostages inside. Throughout the first two seasons, numerous conflicts arise as Spanish police attempt to thwart the plans of the bank robbers. The robbers present themselves as talented criminals but each of them is so well-written that the audience finds themselves rooting for them to pull off the impossible.

Reaction: In my opinion this is one of the best constructed television plots I have ever experienced. The writing was phenomenal and the plot kept you on your toes as continuous challenges came up in attempting to pull off the heist. The show was so successful that there was actually a documentary released titled El Phenomenon was released to discuss the global impact of the series along with giving insider information into how certain popular scenes were filmed. This series was so good that I binged the entire third season in just one day. Whether you watch it in English or Spanish, the plot is so unpredictable that you’ll find yourself wanting another season immediately.

Rating: 9.8/10 (because if my first review was 10/10 you’d assume I don’t know enough about TV)
