The Mist - 2007

The Mist is the 2007 screen adaptation of Stephen kings novel "the Mist". Directed by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) The movie is essentially about a mist cloud that envelops the town - many citizens are stuck in the local store and if they venture outside they don't return. Something in the Mist is killing anything that enters and I shall say no more.

This movie was kind of expensive on Blu ray since its long out of print. It was worth getting though, It comes with a black and white version - this is how the Director originally visioned the film but the production company wanted it colour for commercial reasons. They actually offered The director more money to change the ending but he declined - and I'm glad since the ending packs a real punch.

Special effects were somewhat ropey on this move back in 2007 when it released... Now they are looking rather tired as you would imagine, but don't take away from this film. I'm not a massive fan or the horror genre but this film is among my favorites in that genre , along with Stephen Kings IT.

8/10
