Fuente Fuente Opus X Forbidden X 13 with Baileys on the rocks

I would normally write about the booze first but this is a really special cigar and Baileys is basically a dessert dressed up as liqueur, not that there's anything wrong with that.

FUENTE FUENTE OPUS X FORBIDDEN X 13 CIGAR

A special cigar that I really should have paired with a spectacular whisky, but I had just finished 2 racks of ribs with my friend and I wanted to have this cigar. It's so luxurious from the deep coffee smell and slightly oily feel that when I lit it up I had a sense of giddy excitedness, Christmas for kids like. The first puff was smooth with a bitter after taste, reminding me of a Nicaraguan leaf, plenty of smoke and even burn.

BAILEYS ON ICE

Baileys is very delightful, creamy and smooth and so easy drink that by the time you finish one you're already on to the next one. Defining characteristics are creamy and sweet.

PAIRING

The cigar was strong and full flavoured throughout, leaving a bitter after taste after each puff. However taking a little sip of Baileys after each puff was like pressing a taste bud reset button. Sweet then bitter then sweet then bitter. It's not the best combination, and like I said it would probably have been better with a light whisky like the Glenkinchie, but it was not all bad and I was too full to get up and change from Baileys to whisky.
