Researchers found that eating dark chocolate adults improved their visual acuity and vision two hours after finishing the chocolate bar! This benefit joins a range of health benefits of dark chocolate revealed by research in recent years, the most important of which is improved memory and heart health.

Study results were conducted at UIW University in Texas. The results were published in the journal Gamma. The results called for eating dark chocolate moderately to reap its anti-inflammatory benefits and taking advantage of antioxidants that purify the body of toxins and metabolic exhaustion, known as free radicals.

In the study, 21 women and 9 men participated in the study. Two sessions were conducted. In the first session, they were asked to eat a plate of dark chocolate containing 319 mg of powerful antioxidants known as flavonoids. Then, in a second session, they were asked to eat a 40- Mg of antioxidants.

Experiments have shown that eating dark chocolate improves the ability to read small letters two hours after eating compared to their ability to see and read these letters after eating chocolate milk.

Researchers were unable to confirm the duration of this improvement in vision after eating dark chocolate, while the improvement was observed after two hours of eating chocolate rich in antioxidants.

The researchers plan to continue experiments to accurately identify the benefits of dark chocolate for the eyes, the amount that benefits, and the period of continued improvement in vision.
