It has been more than a week after our first pet Prototype A / Proty got spayed. We can secure a slot in the free spay program by Binan City Vet in partnership with Zen Cats Association last October 7th. This program has been the campaign of the association to avoid owners on throwing their cats elsewhere. In the Filipino term "iligaw" or "to get lost".

According to catsbest.eu A non-neutered cat can deliver up to three times a year! Which pose a huge problem to owners as it would be a challenge on raising additional members of the family. I experience that on hand as having 2 cats at home can be an extra legwork from feeding to cleaning their litter.

Though we are sure that our pets would not wander in the streets, there are multiple reasons on why we pushed to have her spayed the soonest time possible.

3 weeks after we adopted Proty, we noticed that she is "on heat". She was irritable and noisy. We thought that our landlord might expel us from our place due to the loud noise that she is creating. She is calling for a mate, but since she is locked-up in our home it is impossible to have one. It was frustrating as she was yelling everyday for 7 days. The only time that she is quiet is if she is sleeping.

After that week, we decided to have her spayed the problem was the cost of the operation. We checked some veterinary office here in our place and we got an estimated amount of 6,000.00 pesos / $120.00 including the antibiotics. The said amount is quite high and we told ourselves that we will try to save until we have the sufficient amount. Then we got a notice from the Binan City Vet that they offer free spay to domestic cats which are locally breed. "Puspin" is the term used, we immediately complete the form and luckily we got the spot.

After the operation we are advised to have Proty a the elizabeth collar to make sure that the pets would not lick the wound but since we noticed that they are irritable to the collar we dressed her instead.

Right now, she is still recovering and as per advise from the doctor it would be at least a month before she will be in 100% recovered state. But looking at her right now, together with Betbet ( our second cat) I think it would just be 3 weeks and she will be all good.
