2018 Detroit NAIAS (Jan 2018) Coverage – 2019 MY Ford Ranger Compact Pickup

The 2018 Detroit NAIAS was used to debut Ford’s long anticipated 2019 Model Ranger Compact Pickup Truck, reclaiming the Compact Pickup spot it left vacant for U.S. Buyers, when the previous Generation North America produced Ranger enjoyed its last year of production back in 2011.

While pricing has not yet been revealed, what is assumed is that it will be available in both Super-Cab and Crew-Cab Bodystyles, but will not be available in the Regular / Standard (2-door) Cab Bodystyle.  Naturally, it will be available in either 4x2 or 4x4 configurations.

From a powertrain standpoint it will be equipped with a 2.3L Ecoboost Twin-Turbocharged Engine, mated with a 10-Speed Automatic Transmission.

It has also been announced that the new Ranger will be built at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan, with Production starting to ramp-up this year in the Fall.

Lastly, similar to how previous Generations of Rangers was used as the Underbody / Frame Platform for other Ford vehicles, the 2019 Ford Ranger will be the Platform used on the highly anticipated upcoming 2020 Ford Bronco.
