RM Sotheby's will offering up a lot of great cars during its 15th annual action in London the 6th November, a lot of English classic cars but not only... as this Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA 1300 Junior proves :

I really like this Alfa Romeo, it's not "The Race Car" but dominant car of its era in FIA Group 2 touring car racing with pretty cool performances and a nice design, especially the front grille with the headlamps. I can see myself behind the wheel on the Laurentides' roads in summer. 😀

History of Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA

First, the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA was produced between 1965 and 1968 to compete against Lotus Cortina (see photo on the Bonus Section) that won everything during the years 1964 and 1965. In order to have the homologation for Group 2 racing, two versions were produced Stradale (street) and Corsa (race).

The car was developped by Autodelta, the racing division of Alfa Romeo, on the basis of the road Giula GT model. The A stands for Alleggeria, Italian for lightweight thanks to the lightweight aluminum-derived material called Peraluman 25 pannels (instead of steel). The 1300 Junior variation was presented in 1968 in order to compete in the new 1,300 cc class. 450 examples were produced.

Specification

The [Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA 1300 Junior] is equipped with 1,290 cc DOHC four cylinder engine mated with two 45 DCOE Weber carburetors producing 110 hp.

This example is finished in the signature Rosso Alfa, the same of the Autodelta livery with quadrifoglio, the hood serpent, and a white stripe on both sides. The interior is also cool with a nice black leather with a wooden steering wheel (I would like to have my hands on it 😀).
