I really enjoy watching the auctions offered by the big auction houses. Not to know where I'll be able to bid (my banker wouldn't be very happy 😀) but rather to discover cars that you don't often see on the road. And this is the case with this Porsche that I didn't know. Beautiful design done by the Italian coachbuilder, Zagato.
If you want to see some of the cars sold during RM Sotheby's London, here's a follow-up :

History of Porsche 356 Carrera Speedster
In 1957, Storez bought a 356A Speedster with Carrera GS specifications. He asked to Zagato to build a lightweight body in aluminium for competition. But in 1959 during the Rallye des Routes du Nord, he was killed in an accident at the age of only 31. The car was completely destroyed and vanished to be never seen again .
This example was rebuilt as part of Zagato’s Sanction Lost programme (in order to revive the long lost cars of its history) thanks to the American Porsche collector Herb Wetanson. Zagoto looked old lack-and-white photos from its archive and Porsche Museum to be able to produce 9 examples of this bellezza. After a 3D model, Zagato employees worked traditionally like in the 50's to produce the car. Great result !
On the other hand, I have no idea about the engine. But as it's a recreation with original specifications, it seems to be the same engine that equipped the Porsche 356 A (on the video around 8:55 to hear the engine). If you have information about it, fell free to write a comment. It would be appreciated.
As the exterior it's like a piece of art, the interior is also beautiful with this red leather... Perfection.
What do you think of this car ? Une merveille 😀
