Sharing the Journey

I am learning how to craft flowers with resin- the technique is called wire dipped resin. I think that its time to let you all know that my journey as a crafter is still going. I am continuously learning. I am continuously searching for new ways to define me.

Here is my first wire dipped flower. I might still do a couple more post just to get where I wanted to be.

Here are the gauges.

Get a thin wire- jewelry wire wrap it around the gauge and you'll have something that looks like this.

I have decided to make 3 sizes just to have a feel on how I go.

Start dipping. Here I am wearing gloves and, as most of you are interested on how I craft resin things, I believe that I need to talk about safe handling as well.

The resin that I used is special dip resin. Its consistency is thicker than the usual ones I used and it comes out transparent. I was so surprised when I found out that "dipping" a piece of wire is hard. I learned the hard way.....

I have a foam here just to "store" my finished pieces. They are still very fragile and some of them are not yet dried after UV clearing.

After the dip, I used my "stained glass" resin to color the pieces, cure with UV light and store it again on this foam.

wrap the wires together and you'll have something that looks like this. I am sorry I would have wanted to show how I did it but, the picture simply won't load. Anyway, it looks like this.
