The boxing world is in shock to learn that one of boxing's top prospects, Felix "El Diamante" Verdejo, was critically injured during an accident while riding his motorcycle on Road PR-3 in Rio Grande, P.R. at around 6:30 pm last night.
Preliminary Police reports indicate that he was transported to the ER of Puerto Rico's Medical Center in San Juan.
I will update the info on this post as soon as we learn more of this terrible situation.
Update 7:40 PM EST - I've been informed that Verdejo has suffered some kind of head injury and lacerations to his body. He appears to be in stable condition for now.
Update August 8, 2016 - 8:00 AM EST - Verdejo continues hospitalized under close observation but appears alert and responsive. He has suffered several lacerations on his body, but is in stable condition. Doctors and trainers are hopeful that these injuries won't be serious enough to end or even postpone his boxing career.
