Welcome to another day of the #botanicalgardentours. As it is #treetuesday, today I want to present to you the Ulmus x Hollandica Wredei, also known as the Golden Elm .
Herzlich willkommen zu einem weiteren Tag mit den #botanicalgardentours. Da heute #treetuesday ist möchte ich euch den Ulmus x Hollandica Wredei vorstellen, der auch als Gold-Ulme bekannt ist.
The Golden Elm is a sort that was yielded as a mixture of the Ulmus Glabra the Svots Elm, and the Ulmus Minor the Field Elm, and saw its first sundhine in 1875 in the arboretum in Alt-Geltrow. The Golden Elm can get as high as 10 m and broad as 5 m with a funnel shaped tree top, at least when they get a bit older as the one that I show you here. This one is still young. After a pillar shaped tree top, the funnel shape comes with age. The tree is winter-hardy up to -28 °C and needs a lot of water and moist soil. The leaves are relatively broad, elliptical and approximately 8-10 cm long. They area little bit crinkled and have a slightly yellowish touch witch is the reason for its impressive name.
Die Goldene Ulme ist eine Ulmen Sorte, die aus der Mischung aus der Ulmus Glabra, der Bergulme, und der Ulmus Minor, der Feldulme, gewonnen wurde und 1875 im Arboretum in Alt-Geltrow das ersten Sonnenlicht erblickte. Die Goldene Ulme kann mit einer trichterförmigen Baumkrone bis zu 10 m hoch und bis zu 5 m breit werden, zumindest wenn sie etwas älter ist als die, die ich euch hier zeige. Dieser Baum ist jedoch noch sehr jung. Nach einer säulenförmigen Baumkrone kommt dann die Trichterform mit dem Alter. Der Baum ist winterhart bis -28 ° C und benötigt viel Wasser und feuchten Boden. Die Blätter sind relativ breit, elliptisch und ungefähr 8-10 cm lang. Sie sind leicht zerknittert und haben eine gelbliche Note, was der Grund für den eindrucksvollen Namen ist.
