I would like to welcome everyone to another day of #botanicalgardentours . Today I want to show to you the Rosa x Alba Suaveolens , also known as the White Rose of York.
Ich möchte euch alle herzlich auf einen weiteren Tag mit den #botanicalgardentours einladen. Heute möchte ich euch die Rosa x Alba Suaveolens vorstellen, die auch als Alba Rose bekannt ist.
The Rosa x Alba can be found nearly everywhere in the world and derives from a mixture of the Rosa Gallica and the Rosa Damascena and one of the oldes rose species of the world. She is extremely winter hard and resistent to many diseases. Therefore you can find this species even in regions like Skandinavia and Canada. The Rosa x Alba grows in huge shrubs with many flower petals and even more leaves which makes it look very beautiful. Thus its cultivation started already everywhere in the ancient times. By the way, the white rose was used due to her resistence abilities also as the symbol of the "White Rose". It was a german non-violent, intellectual resistance group in the Third Reichagaint the Nazi regime that was organised by a group of students from the University of Munich.
Die Rosa x Alba ist fast überall auf der Welt zu finden und stammt aus einer Mischung der Rosa Gallica und der Rosa Damascena und eine der ältesten Rosen Arten überhaupt. Sie ist extrem winterhart und resistent gegen viele Krankheiten. Daher findet man diese Art auch in Regionen wie Skandinavien und Kanada. Die Rosa x Alba wächst in riesigen Sträuchern mit vielen Blüten und noch mehr Blättern, wodurch sie sehr schön aussieht. So begann ihre Kultivierung schon überall in der Antike. Übrigens wurde die weiße Rose aufgrund ihrer Widerstandsfähigkeit auch als Symbol für die "Weiße Rose" verwendet. Es war eine deutsche gewaltfreie intellektuelle Widerstandsgruppe im Dritten Reich gegen das NS-Regime, die von einer Gruppe von Studenten der Universität München organisiert wurde.
The word "alba" is actually derived from the latin language and translates to white. This is also the colour of the flowers. A closer look at the leaves reveals that they are not simply green, but have a bluish colour tone in them, which make them look a little bit tourquoise. There are many different cultivates of the Alba with a variety of colours such as pink, red and yellow. And the bushes might get up to 2 m in high. She even grows in the shadow. The flowers blossom during june and july and have a really beautiful sweet smell. Thus they have been used to extract rose oil which is a common component in parfumes since the use of the first parfumes ever created.
Das Wort "Alba" ist aus der lateinischen Sprache abgeleitet und bedeutet weiß. Dies ist auch die Farbe der Blüten. Ein genauerer Blick auf die Blätter zeigt, dass sie nicht einfach grün sind, sondern einen bläulichen Farbton haben, wodurch sie ein bisschen türkis aussehen. Es gibt viele verschiedene Kulturen der Alba mit einer Vielzahl von Farben wie pink, rot und gelb. Und die Büsche können bis zu 2 m hoch werden. Sie wachen sogar im Schatten. Die Blumen blühen im Juni und Juli und haben einen wirklich schönen süßen Geruch. Seit der Verwendung der ersten Parfums, die jemals hergestellt wurden, werden sie zur Extraktion von Rosenöl verwendet, das ein häufiger Bestandteil von Parfums ist.
