Blockchain Observatory of Venezuela will create a registry of the country's miners

In recent hours, the government of Venezuela officially launched the first Blockchain Observatory in Venezuela. In that launch, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Hugbel Roa, and the Superintendent of the Venezuelan Cryptocurrency, Carlos Vargas, announced that from this December 22 a unique record of the miners of the Latin American country will begin to be made.

With a view to moving towards the regularization of mining activity in Venezuela, the Observatory will activate a web page where all the miners in the country must register.

In the words of Carlos Vargas, Superintendent of the Venezuelan Cryptocurrency "We can inform the country that we are heading towards the start of a single record of the digital mining activity in the country. From next December 22 will be available on the website that we are building Blockchain Observatory the possibility of a registry for all those who are exercising digital mining in Venezuela. We want to know who they are, we want to know where they are, we want to know what equipment they are using. We want to move towards the regularization of digital mining in Venezuela." To which the Superintendent responded that the intention is that these technologies "tax for the country". However, it will still be the Blockchain Observatory's debate to determine this type of detail.

This registry would be framed in the activities of the Blockchain Observatory, an organization that will be in charge of "strengthening, evaluating and monitoring all that is the use of cryptocurrency technology in Venezuela", as well as maintaining a permanent observation, not only of Petro -the cryptocurrency announced by President Nicolás Maduro-, but also of the rest of existing cryptocurrencies. The minister also stated that the Superintendent will be in charge of the entire regularization process of what he called "such an important matter for the country."

The launch was made at the headquarters of the Ministry of Popular Power for Higher Education, Science and Technology. The event was attended by technicians from the state and telephone companies, Corpoelec and Cantv, as well as representatives of the Central Bank of Venezuela and the country's private banks.

In his statements, the Minister urged universities, research centers in Venezuela and all those interested in blockchain, from the technological and financial point of view, both nationally and internationally, to study this technology in order to contribute their knowledge to its favorable development, which they affirmed can be of great help to overcome the economic challenges that Venezuela is going through and thus "not be slaves of the traditional financial system".

Regarding the Petro, Vargas established that President Nicolás Maduro will consign "a certificate equivalent to 100 billion dollars of the Venezuelan oil reserves. A formula will be created and that formula will determine the value of the Petro when the instrument is born. "

During the subsequent discussions held by the Blockchain Observatory in Venezuela, a schedule of activities to be followed will be determined for the effective implementation of this technology. This work schedule will be guided by six lines of action, of which no further details were offered.
