How to become a bitcoin “expert” and developer in ten steps

How to become a bitcoin “expert” and developer

Well first let start by defining the word expert:

  1. Expert is defined as: "a person who is very knowledgeable about or skilful in a particular area."

  2. To become an expert in bitcoin and blockchain is no different from anything else you want to become an expert in, you have to read about it.

  3. Then you have to read the bitcoin white paper https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf ;All this started with those 9 pages written by the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto.

  4. Research some wallets, download one, on your PC, your phone. Purchase some bitcoin, not necessarily a whole lot, just enough. The wallet i use is www.bitmari.com. Learn how bitcoin is made (mining). It will be complicated at first but trust me its fun.

  5. Learn APIs there are several to choose from. Gem, Block.io, blockchain.org, Bitcore, and others. This also means understanding the key terminology that is returned in the call, such as 'block height', 'nonce' etc.

  6. Start understanding the protocol:

  7. Stay up to date with bitcoin news : bitcoin and generally the cryptocurrency world is fast paced, things change everyday. It is therefore good for you to follow publications and read news everyday e.g coindesk, coin telegraph, cyptocoinnews and reddit.

  8. Identify where your skill set or your interest lies... is it tech/programming? Is it more business? Law? Pick one, this will be your subject.Read up on your desired subject: the whitepapers, articles, watch all the informative videos. If you're into the tech, start toying around with all the different projects out there. If business is more your thing, then identify use cases for bitcoin/blockchain.

  9. Next step would be to network as much as you can. Join your local bitcoin and blockchain meetup, present about what you now know about bitcoin/blockchain. Join the hundreds of online communities. Attend the conferences.

  10. Create a startup. Check out blockchain startups here: https://angel.co/blockchains
