It was just announced that Blockstream Satellite's have launched in an determined venture to connect and allow people to transact Bitcoin from anywhere in the world, these satellite's work by downloading a working Bitcoin node which is able to store the entire network's transaction history. This allows people from less developed regions to jump on the technology at a faster rate.
However, full nodes is a burdensome task as it requires internet connection and a lot of space (160GB), on the positive side Blockstream stated that transactions take up a small 205 Bytes of information which would cost less than one penny to move.
