Be your own Bank : what about security?

Blockchain has a strong appeal to take control (i mean full control) of our money . The private key is unique in every blockchain and hence has only one copy of it .

Great power comes with great responsibility . We own our assets and we can protect it (only we can) .

Recent days we have seen hacks , thefts and spams . All are directed towards some sort of compromised or poorly secured private keys.

Based on my understandings i plot out the best ways to secure our assets :

  1. Do not store your asset in exchanger (unless you are just willing to sell/trade them). In exchanger we dont control the private keys , hence the coins are not in our control.

  2. Do not store your private keys in your electronic devices (browser , notepad , cloud , drive , pendrive or whatever that can be accessed online) . Only print them and store offline.

  3. Use Hardware wallet for storing your assets and backup key in a print out format stored offline. Trezor and Ledger nano are two best choices.

  4. Do not use a shared/unsecured/less authenticated email for accessing your assets.

  5. Always look into url when visiting a website. Never reveal your password/private keys if you are not sure about the security of the site.

  6. If its too good to be true , it probably is . Dont fall for such fishy offers.

Good luck with your cryptoassets.
