#BeerSaturday - Sippin' for the Ladies

This week, I drink to the ladies. International Women's day should be celebrated as mush as the ladies we call our beer-drinkin' buddies so let's tip a pint!

I became a beer blogger years ago because of the blockchain, I came to write either about that which I am learning, or know very well. The years I spent brewing for myself, the breweries I work with now on their technology and marketing, and the decades spent imbibing combine for the self-proclaimed title of the #Blockchain #Beerologist.

This week, we are toasting the women who make beer great, and enjoy it with us as we happily forge our paths through a happy life.

Shorty of the Week!

IMG_0999.jpg

The Shorty of the Week is a tactic I leverage to make sure there are different flavours in the fridge and there are small beers for those moments when a half pint is the right call.

This week, you get a double shot of shorty as I pair last week's selection with this week's as they were enjoyed on the front step with a friend on a sunny Sunday afternoon. We have local Black Swan Brewing https://blackswanbrewing.ca/ with I've Got Sunshine Hazy New England IPA https://black-swan-brewing.myshopify.com/collections/frontpage/products/i-ve-got-sunshine-neipa paired with Vox Populi and their Double Fruit Punch IPA https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/38853/231821/ I cannot for the life of me find their website which makes the digital marketer in me cringe. The Beerologist in me loved this nice surprise which is a serious IPA you discover is a DIPA only when you look at the can. Tasty shorties this week.

Cheers to International Women's Day

IMG_1013.jpg

I have been enjoying 16 instalments of the number IPA series from Collective Arts Brewing https://collectiveartsbrewing.com/ for years. The 16th one is https://collectiveartsbrewing.com/beers/ipa-16/ and is brewed in tribute to International Women's Day. The grapefruit pop is fantastic and it is a curvaceous beauty of a hazy and solid beer.

The artist featured on this label is Amber Vittoria https://collectiveartsbrewing.com/artists/erika-torres-2/ Pretty legit in her own right when you consider the description, "Amber Vittoria is a Forbes 30 Under 30 artist working in New York City; her work focuses on the portrayal of women within art, and she has collaborated with like-minded brands, such as NBC, Warby Parker, Gucci, The New York Times, and Instagram, on pieces that further said narrative."

Art and beer good.

Mojito Party!

IMG_1007.jpg

I am not sure that you have gotten loaded on Mojitos with a large group of females, but I would highly recommend you do. I have to admit that I passed hard on this beer 'til I saw that it was an IPA with over 40 IBU. Then I thought I would take a flyer so that I could tell a funny story on a beer blog. Plus, I can't remember a mojito night that wasn't silly and Sawdust City Brewery https://sawdustcitybrewing.com/ is legit.

IMG_1008.jpg

For this beerologist, mint is for toothpaste and not beer...especially an IPA. BUT, when you see the Mosaic, Idaho and Cashmere hops and the citrussy proclamation on the side label, there is hope. Either way, grab a Tropical Storm Mojito IPA https://sawdustcitybrewing.com/collections/beer/products/tropical-storm-mojito-ipa if you see one on the shelf.

It took a mouthful or 2, but this beer paid off. The mint is simply an accent on a nice, sweet, fruity and solid beer. Pleasantly surprised!

KAPOW!

IMG_1031.jpg

When a fantastic label jumps out at me from the shelf, it is from Rainhard Brewing https://rainhardbrewing.com/ and it is an IPA, I immediately buy it. Who can resist a Molotov cocktail of hops at 60 IBU and a comic-worthy name like KAPOW? My sister-in-law is a kickass woman who runs by the stage name of Kapow...so this it for her.

IMG_1032.jpg

Mosaic, Citra and Simcoe are an ideal combination in my estimation and KAPOW! IPA https://rainhardbrewing.com/revolution-series/ is as capable a brewery as I know. I wasn't aware that this was the flagship as I have had plenty of fantastic IPAs from this brewery.

Having enjoyed this a few times, and thinking it may be readily available year-round, I may give this one a shot at my coveted top-10!

Thanks again for this wonderful #hive #beer gift by @spirall on Twitter! Hop in on the marketing push with us and invite the world of beer bloggers to join us on Hive.

Only 2 more weeks 'til the monumental 200th #beersaturday celebration but we must pace ourselves as we are still at week 198 @detlev/beersaturday-week-198 !BEER tokens have been pumping in value on https://hive-engine.com/ platform so I would suggest you convert a few of your $hive to diversify into this suddsy token for the future of beer drinkers. .

I invite a friend to the party every week and this week I invite one of the most genuine and artistic hivers I know @prydefoltz. If any of us were lucky enough to have a beer with her, I bet it would be blog-worthy.

Cheers to our global family of beer-drinkers!!
