BeerSaturday 339 - Hazy Hopportunity

zHops1.jpg

339 weeks sure is a long drinkin' streak but we come back stronger every weekend!

Being The Blockchain Beerologist definitely has its perks, including but not limited to getting paid to tour breweries and sample new beers! When I am not globetrotting and chugging pints, my fridge looks like a colorful mosaic of regional craft beer I enjoy sharing with the #beersaturday alliance of #beer bloggers on #hive.

This week, I am enjoying some comedy, a stocking stuffer, and a trip to a nearby local brewery.

Pint o' the Week

The pint of the week this week was enjoyed at a comedy show at The Bunker Performance Lounge. This amber beauty is a Heavy Horse Farmhouse Ale by Shakespeare Brewing A nice pint to sip on while laughing with the comedians and it has a cool mini record as the coaster too.

Hazy State

This mysterious beverage first made an appearance in my stocking this year! Welcome treat from Santa Claus as I have been a fan of Collective Arts Brewing for years and it has been a while since I have had this one. The artist is Emily Mae Rose from Toronto so I know where she got the inspiration for this piece.

You can find Hazy State Session IPA about half way down that page where it is described as "This hugely flavourful, yet extremely sessionable Double Dry-Hopped IPA is made with 16 grams per litre of Amarillo, Citra, Mosaic and Centennial hops. Citrus and Tropical fruit notes dominate, but is also balanced with a smooth body that makes this one super easy drinking IPA." It has all the right hops in double dose for a very flavorful pint despite only weighing in at 4.1% ABV. Thanks Santa!

Hopportunity Knocks Twice

IMG_9954.JPG

There is a small brewery not 20 minutes from home that I don't get to enough. Broken Rail Brewing has done a good job with their IPAs since day one only a few short years ago and has a nice variety of other styles I have enjoyed in their tap room. A neat place independently owned which makes it even better when I enjoy a new brew from them.

Hopportunity Knocks Twice Double IPAis so exclusive, it doesn't even appear on their online store for purchase https://www.brokenrailbrewing.ca/s/order?shipping=true&item=154#most-popular Tesla's Revenge is their standard IPA and this one seems like the heavy big brother. Definitely tasty and more of all the good stuff but not to be trifled with in a session with the 8.2% ABV. Perfect beer to kick off a weekend evening and I will DEFINITELY pick this up again if it comes back to their retail shop.

Not sure I have ever awarded Broken Rail my coveted seal of approval. This is as good a beer as any to earn it and I should take the trip down the road more often.
