It's Beer Saturday: A Bitter Old Speckled Hen

Disclaimer: I did not drink this beer.

I bought this for my wife. It's one of her favorites so I grab one when I see them. This is the first 16 oz. can I've seen before.

It's A Bitter

I wasn't sure what that (bitter) meant when it came to beer terminology so I looked it up. It means Pale Ale.
If they think pale ales are bitter wait till they try an India Pale Ale!

It's Nitro

Meaning it has a little metal ball of nitrogen in it. Makes smaller carbonation bubbles and tries to give it that tap draught experience.

First Brewed as a 50th Anniversary for MG Car Co.

Find this on beer advocate:
"The great British ale was first brewed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the MG car factory in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. It was even named after the factory’s old run around car which was often parked outside the paint shop. Spattered in paint, the car became known as the “Owld Speckl’d Un”.
So I had to also read this article about the MG Car Company and the story of the 'owld Speckl'd Un A good quick write up.

Cheers to all of you
