Hiking Briones to Mount Diablo Regional Trail.

Due to our on going lockdown it has not been possible to travel far apart from visiting my local beach for a jog or swim there is not much more exciting things we can do for the time been , so was looking back on some of my past travel trips and would like to take you along this hiking trail we did one year ago in April 2019 in California.

This trip happen due to my cousin convincing and inviting us to California he lives in Lafayette California and had been trying to get us over there for a while so last year was the perfect opportunity to get away on a long deserved break and my cousin knowing that we love fresh mountain air and hiking we agreed to visit him.

Apparently my cousin was telling us that April would be the best time to visit Lafayette town as it is spring season in California and the hillsides of Lafayette town would be bloomed up with beautiful orange Poppy flowers and other wild flowers so this my wife was looking forward to and myself.

Lafayette is in Contra Costa County and is one of the best places to live in California according to my cousin and seeing this beautiful town , i tend to agree with him. Lafayette only has a population of about 26,000 thousand and most that live there are retirees , so it's quite cool peaceful town to live in and what a place to retire just walk out your front door and you breathing all that fresh mountain air the perfect place to be while these lockdowns are in force.

What amazed me hiking along these mountains was that there were many different hiking trails some paved some unpaved it offers opportunities for trail users of all abilities they even had trails accessible to trail users in wheelchairs which i thought was so thoughtful of these people and why not the world is here to share and enjoy by all. There were even Bicycles and Horse trails.

The trail that my cousin took us on was going to be about a 20 km hike all round and on the way we would see some small lakes and cows feeding on that lush green grass , what lucky cows to be enjoying these views day in day out free of charge and getting free food on top of that doing better then me that's for sure.

You know after seeing what was outside my cousin's front door , we really can not explain to you why it took us so long to get here and we were so thrilled to have finally come to witness and hike these beautiful mountains and valleys.
