Today I had a girl in my class named Milana. She is 11 years old and she really wanted to paint Mavka in gouache.
Mavka is a character of Ukrainian mythology, an evil spirit, a mermaid. For a number of signs, it is close to a mermaid, a Carpathian-Ukrainian "forest panochka" or a mountain female spirit.
