Art Talk: I am an art collector

It is strange for me to say this....I am an art collector.
I am excited to be able to say this....I am an art collector.

I am an art collector using Hive to purchase great art from fellow Hive artists from all over the world.

Yesterday I received the first painting Stone staircase that I purchased with Hive from a fellow Hive @armandosodano. He also sent a pamphlet and magnet in the package.

@armandosodano is a prolific artist posting a new painting a day on Hive. While there are many paintings of his I have liked the simplicity of this watercolor is just right for me.

It also says a lot about Armando. It is set in Italy, it is romantic, like he is. I also have a dream of someday walking with my husband on a stone staircase in Italy together like this.

Some of my favorite art collectors are Americans that were purchasing great art in the late 1800s to the early 1900s such as Isabella Stewart Gardner, Henry Clay Frick and Andrew Mellon. All of which have museums with their wonderful collections in Boston, New York City and Washington, DC.

I have admired art collectors and their collections for years (these are 3 of my favorite museums!) and I feel that I am in a place in which I can start to collect using Hive.

The first piece that I collected on February 17, 2021 is Pond on the Field a photograph by @sharker. Denis tells a funny story in his post about the man fishing and being disturbed by his drone. I was also drawn to the simplicity, the colors and that this is in @sharker's home country of Russia.

My dream is to have a small studio (maybe a 20 foot shipping container) with the collection of art from Hive artists. It is very exciting and I am looking for more art to add to it.
