Last month was our baby's birthday, our pampered, our most important undertaking, our livelihood, MULTITASKERS.
It's been a while since we published in one language but we believe this publication deserves its "double posting".
We will make a quick summary of how it was born.
It was when we were still in Venezuela, in Maracay specifically. At that time, early in 2016, I (William) had already graduated from the university as an Architect, and Victoria was getting an Art degree in Graphic Design. By that time in Venezuela the minimum wage was ridiculous, as "recent graduates" that's what we were going to get (even less) if we got a job, and that if we got one, not only the insufficient salary but that we couldn't get a job as professionals, it was very sad that I ended up being the one who makes the coffee and folds the plans, and Victoria the printer operator in some copy shop, without any possibility of promotion or learning anything, or improving ourselves.
From that moment on we were clear about what we did NOT want for our future. We decided to create this creative agency with the idea of keeping us as freelancers, it sounds contrary, a "company" we work with, eventually it will need a place and people to work, those would be employees, right? Not really. We think that "employment" that everyone hates is a state of mind.
What do you mean, a state of mind? If I don't work, I don't get paid.
True! If we don't work, we don't get paid either, and we're not employees. It's also true, that being "owners" we don't have to be employees.
We just think that the future of everyone's job will be in what you know (knowledge and experience) and not in what you have (degrees and so on), both things are important in a certain way but having degrees does not make you professional in anything, you are only certified to apply something, YOU become professional by applying whatever you are certified in. On the other hand, what we expect for the future is that earnings are not fixed, that is, fluctuating earnings, which depend on your effort and performance. Something that most regular jobs don't give you.
That's why we keep Multitaskers as a freelance agency, where all the people we give work opportunities are for independent, temporary and fluctuating projects. It may sound like a problem, right! It has its pros and cons, but most of those people we work with have their own jobs, with a salary, schedules between 6 and 18 hours of work per day for several or all days of the week... And the opportunities we give many times are from working just a couple of hours for just a handful of days earning a large percentage of what they earn at their job or more.
It is not that we make tons of money at all, but it is not a secret that we just need few projects a month to "survive". More happy customers, more money for us. There's a lot fo things that Victoria and myself can not do, so, more money for someone else as well. And as customers always need everything for yesterday or even for last week, most of the projects are relativelly quick.
We had this vision 4 years ago and we keep it clear. The way we see work we sum it up in one sentence.
Do what you love, love what you do.
It's that simple, if you focus on that, you'll never see whatever you do as a job or work, whatever you do.
With the premise of being 2 creative freelancers at the head of this agency and with the possibility of adding many more talents depending on the needs of each project, at Multitaskers we take care of... Everything.
Or almost everything. After all, we are Multitaskers, we do multitasking.
