hello steemian,
glaze painting can be a frustrating process, made more so by acrylic additives which seem counter intuitive. the quick drying nature of acrylics makes you work in haste, and i often find myself working with colors which are brighter than i would like because of the glossy quality that is inherent with acrylics. i usually fight these, but on this painting i just embraced it. the layers built up so quick on the painting it became almost 3-d, the glazing medium drying in 5-10 minutes had me constantly readjusting colors to work with those underneath. here are the results, from finish to when i first thought of taking some photos.
finished painting right before the new owner took it home.
glaze rolly polly.
base layer for the polished/reflective rolly polly.
layering colors that mimic the background
more layering...
more layering...
more layering...
and again the close up.
the background is a more intuitive abstract approach to painting, it involves a lot of spraying, spitting, swinging, screaming, rolling, crushing, and stomping on the canvas... which after awhile begins to look like this weird cosmic-scape.
warmest regards,
shae
