Interesting facts about Gamma Rays

Hey dear community, at the beginning I would like to welcome you all to my contribution and hope you had a day full of positive experiences! In this post, I would like to talk a little about technology and hope you can expand your knowledge.

Here I would like to bring you a little closer to some interesting facts about gamma rays or γ radiation and it is a form of electromagnetic radiation and in addition, I have created some artworks with artificial intelligence. In the electromagnetic spectrum, gamma rays have the highest frequencies and only very small wavelengths and are at the end of the spectrum of electromagnetic waves and when it comes to radioactive radiation, it is the most important in addition to alpha or beta radiation. The formation can be traced back in different ways and occurs in radioactive processes when Atomic nuclei decay and thus the number of mass changes. Compared to alpha or beta radiation, gamma radiation penetrates matter much better and due to the enormous range it is difficult to shield and penetrates pretty much every substance as well as human tissue and if you are exposed to this radiation it can lead to internal damage and can even change the genetic material. The cells remain largely undamaged during irradiation and mainly there is damage to the genetic material, but if there are already damages to the structure of the cells, this can have serious consequences and contribute to the development of diseases and, in the worst case, even lead to death. For shielding, metallic substances with a high density are used and there is little possibility to completely protect against it and even through thick layers of metal, a large part still penetrates and the shielding is influenced by the range of the gamma radiation can be traced back to the energy and the material through which it radiates also has an influence. One of the most important properties is therefore the ability to penetrate matter while alpha or beta radiation has much heavier and in addition, this kind of rays got charged particles while the photons of the γ radiation are uncharged. There are different areas in which gamma rays are used and in the field of research there are some interesting approaches and it is also used in medicine, the technical industry or sterilization and there it is used for the sterilization of herbs or other foods and this application varies depending on the country and is often a very controversial topic.
