This herd of Rocky mountain sheep have in good, fresh alpine grass and a million dollar view. They graze the slopes above the town of Banff, Alberta. One can see the Vermilion lakes and Sundance Peaks in the background.
The Kananaskis river valley is teeming with wildlife. It's not every day one meets a moose. These majestic creatures love eating plants that grow in the marsh.
Moose are some of the largest animals you'll meet in the Canadian wilderness. This lovely lady is queen of the swamp.
My all time favourite is the Hoary Marmot. It had a nice house on the side of a mountain road. Marmots are found at large altitudes and this one would be the largest squirrel in the land.
A herd of Elk in Canmore, Alberta. Keep pets on a leash. Elk are large, so keep pets on a leash. You frequently meet Elk in the towns of Canmore or Banff.
Get off the road! These are more sheep found on the road up to Norquay Ski Hill above Banff.
That's one way to remove grass from the cracks in the road. A salty treat?
The largest woodpecker, a Pileated woodpecker makes quite the racket. We hear them more than we see them.
I don't see Steller's Jay very often, or Rocky Jay, Mountain Jay, etc. It was having fun next to Rawson Lake in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park.
A Yellowhead Blackbird. Not rare, found in Calgary next to the pond, these are slightly less common than the Redwing Blackbirds.
Wildcats!
A Muledeer, we see these all the time near Bragg Creek. Deer are common in these parts.
Probably another mule deer, can't see it's tail so it might be a white tail deer, but the ears are big so let's say its a mule deer.
Jack Rabbit. Found in a local park, they live all over.
This looks like a young caribou. There's a herd of them that lives in banff. The horns are just coming out as it's Spring. Found near Lake Minnewanka.
Rocky Mountain Goats! On the road high above Canmore, next to Whitemans Pond.
Here's a Kidd.
All out of Rocky Mountain Animal Pictures for now so here's a Coati. Found in the forests of Central America. We can talk about this another time.
Thanks for stopping by.
