The Magnificent Wild Horses Of Iceland

Howdy folks and greetings from the Great Plains of North Texas!

For some reason I thought Iceland would be too cold to have herds of horses roaming around up there but they sure do and they're rugged!

I don't think you can see this scene anywhere else in the world:

This amazing photo looks like a fantasy but the horses are standing in front of a large waterfall and there is also some light snow which creates a magical effect:

I found a photographer and film maker named Drew Doggett who does amazing work in some of the most unusual and scenic places on earth...like Iceland.

He spent weeks with the horses in their incredible natural environment and came away with stunning still photos as well as a short film.

Here's a shot of him next to a beautiful blue pool of glacier water, I love this one!

The geography in Iceland is just surreal. What a stunning contrast in colors:

Running in the snow. These guys have adapted to the harsh conditions:

Most of the beaches there have black volcanic sand:

This is one of my favorites because of that big chunk of ice!

Drew Doggett has a great story. When he was in college he realized he could make a living as a photographer so he moved to New York City and became an apprentice to some of the top fashion photographers in the world.

In doing so he was able to crisscross the globe working with musicians, models, and celebrities. But his heart's desire was to be independent and tell stories of people, cultures and places of the world, especially stories that have never been told.

So in 2009 he took a leap of faith and started traveling the world on his own, finding unique stories to tell. It was a huge risk but it paid off.

His photography and films are stunning. You can check out his projects here.
