Getting Ready for Camping: Double Cots!

Camping with a family of eight can be a challenge, but can also be very nice. We have eight brains, sixteen hands and sixteen feet. If everyone is working together, we can get a job done quickly!

One of the trickiest part of camping (besides meals) is sleeping estrangements edit: arrangements. Our tactic has been inflatable mattresses, but we discovered they have a difficult time staying fully inflated, something to do with changing air pressure. They also take up a ton of room in our tent.

Last camping trip, we had FOUR queen sized air mattresses, taking up almost all of the floor space. No storage underneath and a lot of stepping over (or on top of) squishy air mattresses. Not ideal.

So the solution is cots! But not just single cots, but cots that stack one on top of the other. Double cots!

It's called a "Portable Bunk Bed" and comes in two (quite heavy) bags. For our family, we purchase two bunk beds, so we have four (quite heavy) bags to bring with us. Thankfully, we're not hiking with these!

They can be set up as single beds or stacked to save room as a bunk bed. They also can be configured as a couch of sorts. Having two large couches in the tent will be great, especially if there is rain.

The bar in the back doesn't make this super comfy, unless you have good pillows or cushioning behind you.

We are very exciting about this new addition to our camping gear. This will make sleeping arrangements much easier, having four beds (two sets) and only one (or maybe two) air mattresses will save us a lot of space. We'll see how this goes later this week. We leave on Tuesday, it's coming quickly!

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin

We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.

No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13

Teach Your children Liberty from Tyranny

Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations.

Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books. I am an affiliate for Libertas Publishing, your purchase will help our family grow financially.
