A-Z MUSIC CHALLENGE | E : ETHEREAL 77 & EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY

New Project 3.png

Hello music lovers and welcome in our fifth day of #a-zmusic challenge started by @psos. Including introduction post, we are proud to say that 20% of the road is already behind us and based on our partly-revealed plan, number of musical gems waiting for you is still long.

Preparing to the DAY E, we wanted to build a bridge connecting and merging together previous days of more or less broken electronic, from ambient, through idm to drum and bass with upcoming atmospheric sounds of bass music and post-rock soundscapes. To keep the flow and reasonable connection between days, opening project is a short-term gem masterpiece somewhere beyond boarders of classical atmospheric drum and bass

Ethereal 77 is a lesser known moniker of German producer Ulrich Schnauss, famous for spacious, ethereal and meditative sounds of ambient, downtempo, chill and widely understand electronic music. Under this moniker he released drum and bass album called Ethereal 77 - Landscapes LP in 1999 and two singles. In 2011 Ulrich Schnauss decided to share unreleased album, recorded in 1998 as Ethereal 77 for free to subscribers of his newsletters. Both albums are outstanding but the first one was the one that stayed with me for a long years and it is definitely one to sit down for, teasing your imagination like a well written story. We would like to introduce you to the art of Ethereal 77 through the prologue, opening tune from his only one legally released album. P.

American post-rock instrumental band from Austin, Texas formed in 1999. Crew built by two guitar players - Mark Smith & Munaf Rayani - bass player - Michael James - and amazing drummer - Christopher Hrasky - are considered as pioneers of the whole style of electronically modulated atmospheric rock music. Explosions In The Sky recently celebrated their 20th anniversary with series of exciting vinyl reissues. They have started with remastered debut album from 2000, How Strange, Innocence, almost impossible to get in the original version. Reissue of their secretly released second album called The Rescue, which had been announced and distributed only via mail order in 2005 and was never commercially available again. As a second part of celebration, this strictly limited to only one copy per person album is coming out to the masses. During their stage activity, they released 11 LP with distinctive hybrid of contemplating electronic music with cosmically ethereal slow-rock. As we pleased you with the opening tune from the Ethereal 77 - Landscaps, now we would like to entertain you with the closing track, from album considered as the best one, Explosions In The Sky - The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place, coming from the year 2003.

Explosions in the Sky - Your Hand in Mine
