It gets tough before it gets better! At this point I knew that was the only way so unless it budges I also wasn’t going to stop.
I learned the biggest lesson on the first day of the new year while unclogging my days-old clogged bathroom drain.
Also, you can also use this method to unclog your drain. (Even though it’s nothing you don’t already know).
The drain has been working alright without any complications. Life has been smooth using the bathroom. You barely even notice how important the drain is. Everything has been moving seamlessly and effortlessly.
Before I even get to my point, let’s stop here and appreciate life. This applies to life in general. Sometimes you almost get over your head by thinking there is no way something can go wrong in a particular situation or event. This happens mostly when you don’t know what goes on behind the scenes(what it takes) for the particular event or situation to occur. When the event is so seamless.
I mean how many things can go wrong in a bathroom drain? What does it take for water to pass down the drain of a bathroom?
You’re thinking about it but you can’t think of a possibility of anything going wrong. There’s no way. This is a no brainer!
Well I got bad news for you. It’s actually not a no-brainer!!
Hot water can “burn” the pipes, make them shrink causing the pipes of the drain to become significantly smaller so it’ll take longer for water to pass down, leaving the “waiting” water on the bathroom floor.
A small animal(for example a frog) can go into the pipe from the sewage tank and block it.
Smaller dirt from the bathroom can accumulate in the drain and block it.
And so on…
In my case, it has to do with last one. It took a muscle to get it out of the way.
It has been a few days since the water won’t drain out quickly. It takes hours for about 3 liters of water to drain out. Something that normally takes seconds.
So I opened the perforated silver plates that covers the hole on the ground and got an iron rod about two-quarters (2/4) of an inch thick and used it to search for the clog in the hole. I found nothing but then I felt I had reached the end only a few inches down which I wasn’t expecting. So it quickly came to my mind that the pipe is probably bent in the direction of the sewage tank. I searched for it till I felt it. Now I knew this was the direction the pipe was going but it was blocked only an inch into it.
Then I started applying pressure with hopes of opening it. But it wouldn’t budge.
After about 15minutes of pushing down and nothing moving I almost gave up.
But I wasn’t going to call a plumber to do exactly what I’m already doing, because looking at the problem there really isn’t much he can do differently. So I kept pushing down even though nothing seems to be moving anywhere.
I was tired. My palms were red and paining from holding the iron rod barehanded. Having bee doing the same thing for the past over dozen minutes and nothing changing, it was only sensible to give up. Despite the fact that no one else was going to do it for me and I wasn’t willing to call a plumber, my ego wouldn’t even let me give up. Now it was triple harder but I was also just as much more determined.

Within 3minutes of applying more pressure the clog finally budged! To make sure it was really unclogged I poured some water in the hole and it drained away in seconds. Then I poured a few more buckets of water and everything drained out in a matter of seconds.
Lesson
When life is getting harder for you, make sure you’re doing the right thing and have faith and keep going. It gets tough before it gets better, mostly. You’re definitely closer to the end of the tunnel.
