Do you have some kind of problem with procastination? I think I can help you!

If you're like me, you have a lot of ideas.

They come in, you try to implement them, you fail and... you quit.

And you do that everytime you put effort in something but that effort doesn't seem to be enough to bring the success you were aiming for.

So why do we give up?

We give up because making something real and "touchable" (even digitally speaking) is not that easy. We have to put effort, study and time in our projects.

And nobody will ever give that time back to us.

So we start feeling demotivated and hopeless when the "idea for making X amount of money" fail.

And then the "project to start becoming happier today" fail.

And then "project about studying a new language" fail.

And...

Yeah, you got it.

But, if you're like me... you're sick of it

You're sick of thinking about something and then starting to be afraid of what's next.

You're sick of waiting for the initial success just because someone else is doing better than you.

You're sick of trying to stick to something but being unable to do so.

And, if you're like me, you've found a solution

I found myself comfortable with the gamification of my projects.

I know it sounds strange, but let me explain. You'll discover something pretty clever and it could be useful for your projects or for the habits you want to master.

Habitica is the way to do so.

What is Habitica?

Habitica is a cool and free site that challenges you to gamify your tasks. That could improve your lifestyle (you can get rewards if you lose weight, for example) or it could improve your business (maybe you'll level up writing articles or doing videos for your project).

The homepage is easy and straightforward. To let you understand this easily, anyway, I decided to expalin everything step-by-step with the help of screenshots from Habitica itself.

This is my character. As you can see, I'm level 6 and I recently had my new pet: a golden Panda!

Your life goes up and down based on your tasks. If you complete them, you gain money and experience. If you fail them, you lose some life points.

Coins are divided in gold coins and silver coins (100 silver coins = 1 gold coin). You can also buy diamonds to sustain the project, but it's not mandatory whatsoever.

Diamonds allow you to buy things easily without having the need to drop or research for them.

Now, before starting out to let you saw the interface, please let me point out that:

  • Every task can be set up as "trivial", "easy", "medium" or "hard". You gain coins and experience based on the difficulty of the task;
  • Every task you complete can drop you some eggs or food (it's random);
  • Every time you level up, your life is fully restored;
  • Every section has some kind of useful storage. You can filter for "strong tasks", "evening tasks" or so on depending on the side you're working on.

These are your habits. You can set up and change them in many ways.

  • You can choose to let them have both "+" (if you do it correctly) and "-" (if you fail them) or to have just one of them. You can also choose to have none and just write a line of text to insipire and motivate you;
  • Once you complete your habit, and  you click "+", you gain coins. If you click "-" you lose coins;
  • You can see a graph of your habit clicking on the graph icon (in the upper right corner). This will show you the frequency of your victories and the failure moments.

These are the things you want to do on a daily basis.

That means that, if you complete them, you earn coins and experience every day.

But, if you fail them, you'll lose more coins and life points.

Here, you can:

  • Drastically improve your current daily business
  • Use checklists to earn more coin and have a clear idea of what you have to do that day step-by-step
  • See graphs to show how many times you missed that goal

For example, in my case, that's where I put the goal "Write a post on Steemit". And then I made the checkbox for clarifying some otehr minor goals: "100 words", "200 words", "Images", "Format", and so on.

Plus...

On your "To-Do" list you can add all your tasks. These are things you don't do everyday, but you have to do on this particular period of your life.

One of the things I like to do is giving me "perks" here. For example, you can see the perk I made for writing a post longer than 500 words here on steemit.

Anyway, on this tab, nothing's different from the daily habits exception made for:

  • You can't see graphs, because it's not something that recurs overtime;
  • You can set the expire date (you can see some of my tasks expiring in one or two days). That means you have to complete the tasks before that date;
  • They give you coins on a single-shot, since they are single-shot by themselves.

And, now, let's reward you!

Now that you earned your coins... reward yourself!

Here you can buy new items for your character or you can creat new rewards. One example could be "Do what you want for 1 hour" or stuff like that.

I don't like to create my personal rewards. Swords and armors are cooler!

There are also some Multiplayer Activities

I'm not going to show you how to do that (since it's pretty basic and I'm here to show you just the main features), but you can also create parties with your friends or join in existing guilds.

There are guilds about University, Studying, and so on.

You can also take part in challenges to earn diamonds. If you're choose as the winner of that challange (challenges are just sets of tasks), you earn diamonds for free.

Last but not least... pets!

You can also have your own pet!

Doing tasks and completing daily jobs, you can randomly drop eggs. And, when you have the apposite potion to open that egg (it's not 1egg:1potion, don't worry), you can have your pet.

Just to make an example:

You drop the "Dragon Egg".

Then you drop the "White Potion".

If you put the White Potion onto the "Dragon Egg", you can have a White Dragon.

You can find all these features in your "Inventory".

PS: the pet collection is HUGE, that's just a portion of it.

Then, if you go to your pets' collection (in your inventory), you'll be able to feed your pet. When you'll feed him enough, you'll be able to ride on him.

How cool is that?

And... that's it.

I decided to show this site to you because it's really helping me sticking to writing and learning to write better here on Steemit. And I got rewarded for that. Both on Habitica and, after that, on Steemit.

berniesanders@berniesanders upvoted my post yesterday and I can't be happier now: thank you so much.

Sticking to your projects and your ideas is important but, if you're lazy like me, it'd be difficult.

So try out Habitica and let me know if it works for you too!

See ya!

PS: all the stock images are free and you can find them on Pixabay. [First Image] [Second Image] [Third Image]

PS(2): the other images are, of course, self-taken screenshots. I'm sorry if it's in Italian but I wasn't able to find a way to change the language. I hope you'll be able to understand anyway.
