Torcello Island is a surprise and a paradise if you are into history, architecture, and the nature. This smaller island is well worth a boat trip for. The mosaics are beyond description. The church is the first built in the area. The Santa Maria Assunta is well worth visiting on the island for a 5 euro entry fee.
This is where Venice started. It is the place to enjoy the colors of water, the green pasture, the singing of birds, the calm of a very old church, and nice sea breezes. Very glad that we did the tour to get there. Really gorgeous.
