I am not sure if its just bad business practices or incompetence or something shady or issues with the Steem code. It definitely as a scam smell to it if you are going to be silent about the issue this

Yes it is just good business to be open and upfront about issues. You also need to keep customers informed. Maybe we can work to make Steem more tasty of atomic DEX's (decentralized exchanges.)

Terrible to stop people's lives. Sounds like a good opportunity for people to check the votes with a citizen movement. We can use decentralized technology to check the counts if enough people get involved.
