Every subreddit has its own rules so you can't know in advance how they will react although reading the rules of each subreddit can help you to get a general idea of what is allowed and what is not. So I ll describe how I see contest-related onboarding but I can't know for sure without trying.

I would create a nicely written list of writing contests on Hive including BeerSaturday contest, top 10 or top 20 - with short but clear descriptions of each contest - and would promote this page on Reddit. I would search for

1. writing contest searchers
2. small money work searchers

Writing subreddits can be tricky and can delete such a link, whether it's mentioned in comments or shared. But you won't know for sure without trying.

Small money earners - this looks easier. There are many "beermoney" (coincidentally 😄) subreddits on Reddit and they are supposed to allow such promotion.

Hive has an advantage: it allows people from developing countries to earn - . You can share posts in beermoney subs but you also can follow these subs to monitor posts and reply in comments + messages - of course, talking to people personally works much better.

There is a huge platform where writing content creators hang out - medium.com.

Medium has between 85 and 100 million monthly active users

Many people come hoping to earn $$$ on Medium but can't manage to earn even 10$ monthly but they want it since they believe writing is their destiny or/and they need pocket money. Secondly, Medium doesn't pay to citizen of many countries like Brazil, Ukraine, etc. Thousands of people from Medium would be happy to write posts on Hive. Medium people are better for onboarding (imo) than Reddit users - Redditors are often conformists, following the crowd, while Medium users are content creators searching for opportunities.
