I installed linux mint(17.3) on my old netbook,so I closed my lip because I was in hurry.

When I came back it was in coma. No wake up at all. Here's a "workaround" to evade the hibernation issue:

Open your terminal, and paste this:

sudo mv -v /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla /

Enter your password and then when it confirms the setting it's been moved in a safe location, you can reboot.

On the laptop, netbook whatsoever, click on the battery status, and then options, you will find a couple of options that can be used for it. I personally picked " shut down the monitor while lip is closed"

Do you want bring back the hibernation even if it hurts? Ok then, fine.

Open the terminal, and paste this:

sudo mv -v /com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d

press enter, wait for it to confirm, close the terminal and reboot your computer.
